A widow, a mother, leaves her house to get some drugs from the store for her sick child, leaving him asleep in his crib. She returns only to find a large crowd in front of her house which was now on fire. Throwing the bag of drugs on the floor, she struggles to get into the burning house but the crowd prevents her saying, ‘You’re going to die as well if you enter. The baby is probably dead by now.’ She turned deaf ears to them and charged into the house. She enters into the fire and carries her baby who was wrapped in a big blanket. The child, tight against her breast, is not touched by fire but the mother comes out severely burnt. Thanks to competent doctors, she is saved but has to live with ugly scars. Many years passed and the child under the guidance of his mother gets the best education and graduates with a first class degree. He gets an appointment in a multi-million company and decided to organise a grand party. He invites important personalities, family and friends to celebrate with him. While the party is on, noise erupts and the son is forced to resolve the matter. He approaches the door where the noise emanates from and discovers that his mother was denied entrance. Ashamed of his mother because of the ugly scars that made her unrecognisable, he turned around and instructed guards to kick her out as he did not invite her to the party before hand.
What inspires you in this story? In this story, the mother represents Jesus and the son represents humanity. Jesus used his life to redeem our souls from death and to ensure we have a decent future. He sacrificed his life for you and I. Despite His sacrifice, a lot of us ignore him. Many of us are ashamed to declare Jesus our Lord and saviour. Many of us deny Him access into our hearts and lives. We keep pushing him out despite all the torments he endured to set us free. Are you like the son in the story above? Do you keep shutting Jesus out? Do you deny Jesus? Well, if your answers are positive, you have a chance to give your life to Christ. You have a chance to accept Him and start over now! Because tomorrow might be too late. If you deny him, He said in His holy word- the Bible in Mark 8:38 ‘Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.’
If you wish genuinely in your heart to embrace Jesus and amend your ways
- Accept that you have sinned against Him.
- Seek Forgiveness from the Lord.
- Repent and forsake your sins.
- Live a life to please God not man.
